Obituary for Marcelina Martinez
Marcelina Martinez, 87, of Haskell, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene. A funeral service will be held 1:00pm, Friday, March 25, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Vasquez officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. A visitation will be held 6:00pm, Thursday at Haskell Funeral Home, followed by a Worship Service at 7pm. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.
Marcelina was born May 19, 1934 in Big Spring, TX, the daughter of the late Gregorio Sepeda and Pauline Rios Lopez. She married Jose Martinez, Sr. Marcelina was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the Garden Club. She loved gardening, winning several ribbons. Marcelina was an avid Texas Ranger, Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers fan. Some of her other past times were, playing bingo and dancing. Above all, she loved being with her family. She prayed daily for her kids, grandkids, family and friends, and wouldn’t let anyone leave her house without being blessed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Julian Sepeda, Frances Jiminez, Eluteria Guzman and Billie Frausto.
Marcelina is survived by her children, Isabel Perea and husband Martin of Los Lunas, NM; Rosa Rodriquez of Abilene, TX; Jose Martinez, Jr. and wife Velma of Haskell, TX; 12 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, sister, Linda Hermosillo of Haskell, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of dear friends.
