Tony Haynes

Anthony James “Tony” Haynes, 77, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026 in Haskell. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Friday, July 24, 2026 at Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. A funeral service will be held 10:00am, Saturday, July 25, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Haskell with Pastor Brian Hevrin and Bro. Jim Ried officiating. Burial will follow in Roberts Cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Ave D. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.

Tony was born on August 16, 1948 in North Middlesex London England to the late James Lamar Haynes and Kathleen Wallace Haynes. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant with the Third Battalion, Fourth Marines. During his military service, he completed two tours in Vietnam and participated in the 1968 TET Offensive.

On December 31, 1979, Tony married the love of his life, Linda Brueggeman, in Haskell. He was a faithful member of the Haskell First Baptist Church.

Tony worked as a welder and machinist for Steele Machine for several years and dedicated a total of 15 years as a paramedic with Haskell EMS. He also devoted many years to serving his community as a member of the Haskell Volunteer Fire Department.

Tony had a passion for hunting, fishing, and flying remote-control airplanes. He especially loved the Christmas season. Every year, he and Linda transformed their entire front yard into a festive display filled with countless inflatable Christmas decorations. The yard would glow with lights and holiday cheer, bringing smiles and joy to everyone who drove by. He took great pride in sharing the spirit of Christmas with his community and loved seeing others enjoy the display as much as he did. Above all else, he loved his family and his Lord. His life was marked by faithful service to his country, his community, his church, and those he loved.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Caren Thompson; brother, Jessie Haynes; his parents-in-law, Lewis and Viola Brueggeman.

Tony is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Haynes of Haskell; brother, Donald Haynes and Delia of Granbury; sister, Ann Boles of Hamlin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Connie Brueggeman and Lynn and Nancy Brueggeman all of Haskell; nephews, Scott Boles of Hamlin and Garrett Brueggeman and Lindsey of San Angelo; nieces, Malinda Brueggeman of Abilene, Sydney Berra of Summerville, South Dakota, and Amanda Bibb of Munday; great nephews, George and Jude Brueggeman; extended family and a host of dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Haskell Volunteer Fire Department or Haskell County Child Welfare Board.
