Bettie Gene Hines Wainscott

September 5, 1931 — June 26, 2022

Bettie Gene Hines Wainscott, celebrated her ultimate healing and home going, peacefully at home on June 26, 2022, at the age of 90, surrounded by her loving family. Bettie was born on September 5, 1931, to Estel and Mattie Hines. Bettie grew up in Celetex and graduated from School in Hamlin Texas, where she married the love of her life, Wayne Wainscott on September 24, 1948. They were married for 69 wonderful years until Wayne's death on August 28, 2017. The first three years of their marriage were spent on a farm in Hamlin. They moved to Haskell, where they lived the rest of their lives and raised their family. Bettie pursued a banking career and retired in 1991 from Haskell National Bank as Vice-president and head cashier.
Bettie was always active in church at both First Baptist Church and later Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church. After retiring, she enjoyed being a part of The Progressive Study Club and RV travels with her close friends. Her biggest delight in life, however, was always her family.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Melville Hines who was killed in Gaum in WWII.
Bettie is survived by daughter, Susan Jones and Husband Bill of Belton; son, Danny Wainscott and wife Sharon of Knox City; 4 grandchildren, Mandi Watts, Jodi Teasley and husband Chad, Philip Wainscott, and Cody Wainscott and wife Cassie. She is also survived by, seven great grandchildren, Ruth, Weston, Max, and Clay Watts; Tyler Teasley; Charlotte and Conner Wainscott.
A graveside service will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Willow Cemetery in Haskell, with Bettie's nephew, Stormy Higgins, officiating. A visitation will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 6-7pm at Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Aven D. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com
