Danny Eugene Bass, 75, of Haskell, formerly of Rochester, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 in Haskell. A graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Friday, November 5, 2021 at Rochester Cemetery with Bro. Paul Chamber officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Danny was born February 5, 1946 in Mesa, Arizona, the son of the late Grace Lilian Hunter Bass and Hiram Benjamin Bass. On June 28, 1975, he married Sandra Sue Shoemaker in Scottsdale, AZ. He worked for the City of Rochester for a total of 20 years. The last 10 years, he was the City Manager of Rochester, retiring in 1999. Danny was very active in his community; he served on the school board for 13 years and was president for 8 of those. He was also a volunteer for the fire department and served as Fire Chief. Danny served on the Water Board Association of Texas and was a member of Faith Chapel.
Danny loved Rochester. He was an avid Rochester Steer Football fan, storm chaser; served and helped wherever he saw the need. He was a kind and humble man, who's acts of kindness reach far past what is known. Danny was a steadfast, faithful servant of the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Sil Modesti; son-in-law, Gregg Pierce and 4 brothers.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Bass of Haskell; children, Mark Modesti and wife Nancy of McKinney, TX; Cindy Cyranoski and husband Steve of Amarillo, TX; Gena Pierce of Haskell, TX; Danielle Homstad and husband Dean of Knox City, TX; James Bass of Ukiah, CA; 9 grandchildren, 2 great, grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
