Danny was born July 28, 1944 in Haskell, Texas, the son of Cecil Payne and Rosie Hurt Payne. On December 4, 1964, he married Glenda Dunn in Denver City, Texas. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last December.

He loved spending time outdoors sitting on his porch and found great joy in playing the guitar. Music was a meaningful part of his life.
