George Stephen “Steve” Money, 69, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the Haskell Church of Christ with Tim Johnson officiating. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.
Steve was born April 22, 1956 to the late George Enos Money and Ellen Christine Neeley. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, E. C. Collins, who lovingly guided and supported him throughout his life. Steve graduated from Haskell High School in 1975 and later attended trade school before starting his career in telecommunications. He worked for EchoStar in the Dallas area, and All Tell, Communication Connections, and Verizon in Haskell for many years before retiring in 2023. He had a heart for his community and served for a time on the Haskell Chamber of Commerce board. He was a faithful member of the Haskell Church of Christ.
Steve had a larger-than-life voice and personality and was truly one in a million. He loved people and never met a stranger, always ready with a word of encouragement or his quick wit, playful pranks, and humor that could brighten anyone’s day. He especially enjoyed camping and kayaking trips with Tammy, where they could relax, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time together away from the busyness of everyday life making many special memories along the way. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, daughter and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pamela Money; brother, Michael Cecil Money; and beloved parents- in-law, Glenn and Hazel Hale.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Tammy Money of Haskell, Texas; daughter, Stephanie Stokes and Chuck of Abu Dhabi; two granddaughters, Brianna & Keira Stokes; sister, Cathy Poe and Robert of El Paso, Texas; numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and a host of very dear friends.
