Heather Ann Rutledge, 56, of Stamford, passed away, Friday, June 12, 2026 in Stamford, Texas. A memorial service will be held 2:00pm, Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Bethel Assembly in Stamford. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.

Heather was born on December 8, 1969, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to the late Robert Snow and Patricia McHeffey Snow. On April 8, 2006, she married the love of her life, Steven Rutledge, in Odessa, Texas. Heather earned her master's degree in Library Science from Sam Houston State University and dedicated 25 years to education as an elementary teacher and librarian with Midland ISD, Ector County ISD, and Stamford ISD. She retired at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 school year with Stamford ISD, leaving a lasting impact on the students and colleagues whose lives she touched.

Heather was the owner of Nook and Crannies in Stamford. She enjoyed crafting with a good cup of coffee. She treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a special love for animals, and family members often joked that her beloved schnauzer, Rowdy, may have been her favorite family member. While the debate may never be settled, there is no question that Rowdy held a very special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sue Oppliger.

Heather is survived by her husband, Steve Rutledge of Stamford; children, Ryne McCullough and wife Nakalee of Odessa; Lauren McCullough of Fayetteville, AR; Braden Rutledge of Winters; grandchildren, Colton, Owen and Wyatt McCullough of Odessa; sister, Kristi Salgado and husband Mark of Las Cruces, NM; brother-in-law, Tim Oppliger of Van Couver, Washington, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of dear friends.
