James was born in Dallas Texas January 16,1979 to Brenda and Chris Nichols. James was a caring and sweet boy, full of life and adventurous soul. James grew up in the country in Powell Texas. He grew up in a large family with seven siblings, several aunts and uncles, and an abundance of cousins. He attended Kerens and Trinidad schools. James and his best friend Jason Deaton would spend many hours hunting, fishing, and swimming at lakes and ponds in their teenage years. He had a big personality with a great sense of humor. James told the best jokes. He was a self-taught mechanic. He could work on just about anything. James also acquired an associate degree in Horticulture. James became a father in June of 2003. James enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing dominoes, cards, fishing and time together.

James is preceded in death by grandparents, Loretta and B.E. Jones, Emma and Fearl Nichols, and Frank Commiato, mother, Brenda Jones, uncles, Glenn Jones, Kenny Jones, and David Jones.

James is survived by sons, James E. Jones Jr. of Purden TX, Jason E. Jones and Hailie of Mildred TX, Jaden E. Jones of Purden TX, Chaistan L.D. Fisher Jones of Corsicana TX; granddaughter, Everest A. S. Jones; father, James C. Nichols and Marion Nichols of Thordale TX; father, Ray A. Commiato and Trish Commiato of Kerens TX; grandmother, Barbara Commiato of Kerens, TX; brothers, Andrew and Melissa Commiato of Purden TX, Jeramie Nichols of Mt. Pleasant SC, Bradlie D Nichols of Thorndale TX; sisters, Loretta and Kelly Williams of Haskell TX, Andrea Commiato of Powell TX, Latisha and Efrain Benitez of Blackshear GA, Heather and Brady Ballard of Highfill, AK, numerous nieces, nephews, several great nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00am-2:00pm, Saturday, August 15, 2026 at The Red Building, 4095 US 287, Corsicana, Texas 75109. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.
