Karen Marie Hiestand-Newago

Karen Marie Hiestand-Newago, 55, of Haskell, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025. A Celebration of life will be held 11:00am, Friday, July 18, 2025 at God Loves You Ministries with Kristi Stewart officiating. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com

Karen was born August 10, 1969, in North Hollywood, California, the daughter of Johnathan Joseph Harmon and Chris Hiestand Harmon.

Karen was born with a spirited heart and a zest for life. She lived life full throttle, from her days working as a pit crew member for NASCAR to building a new chapter after moving to Texas in 2014. She shared 18 incredible years with her partner, Tommy Newago, creating a life of support and companionship. Karen had a special bond with her grandson, Julian, who affectionately called her “Nanny.” Time spent with him was among her greatest joys.

Karen had a passion for cleaning. She was also a devoted movie lover. She especially enjoyed Disney films and action-packed Avenger movies. She was a big fan of Jason Momoa and rarely missed a film he starred in. Beyond the screen, music was her heartbeat. A true rock-and-roll soul, Karen lived by the motto “If it’s too loud, you’re too old.” She loved cranking up the volume, and she was drawn to the spirit of anarchy, embracing chaos, and living life on her own terms.

Karen is survived by her husband, Tommy Newago; children, Amanda Vanderford, Valerie DeLaCruz, Joshua Hiestand, and Kaitlyn Hiestand, 5 grandchildren, and her beloved dogs, Missy Boo-Boo, Boogie, and Gracie.
