Norma Jo Irion

October 14, 1947 — November 5, 2022

Norma Jo Irion was born on October 14, 1947. She passed away November 5, 2022, at the age of 75, after her courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Jack Earles, and her sister, Nancy Peiser. Norma was known by many as "Dodie," a nickname given to her by her sister, and "Auntie" by her nephew and niece. She grew up at Paint Creek and lived in Stamford and Abilene before moving back home to Haskell County.

Norma was an LVN for many years and worked at the Abilene State School, Hendrick Medical Center, and the prison in Abilene. She is survived by stepson, Richie Irion, her nephew, Robbie Peiser and wife Charlotte of Haskell, niece Tammy Utter of San Angelo, great-nieces Breann Cypert, husband Cody and their children Averie and Mason; Bergen Webb, husband Josh and their children Carter and Taegen; Lacey Cude and husband Ryder; Haley Leslie, husband Erick and children Blakely and Reid, and Kinsey Aquallo, husband Matt and children Sofie, Presley, and KJ.

When she was able, she loved to travel and enjoyed going on cruises and trips with friends and family. In her later years, she loved nothing better than giving gifts to her niece and nephew, as well as the many great-nieces and nephews. She was also quite fond of dogs, always having one by her side. And thanks to a friend, she was able to wheel down and visit her canine friend, Angel, which brought her great joy. Thank you to the staff at the Haskell Healthcare Center who made her last year one filled with kindness, love, and new friendships, and to the Hendrick Hospice Care nurses who ensured she was comfortable, even to the end.

A private service will be held at a later date at the Howard Cemetery in Paint Creek.
