R W Greenwood, Jr., 67, of Weinert, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. A memorial service will be held at a later time. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.
Jr was born on November 24, 1957, in Haskell, Texas. Jr was the son of the late R W Greenwood and Marie Russell. He grew up in Knox County and attended school in Weinert, where his strong work ethic and independent spirit were evident from an early age.
Jr spent many years working on oil rigs as a driller before moving to Sachse, Texas, where he became a trusted mechanic at McSwain Garage. He then turned his passion for the outdoors into a successful lawn mowing and landscaping business. Whether he was turning wrenches, mowing lawns, or collecting coins, Jr put his whole heart into his work and took pride in doing things the right way.
He was known for being stubborn in the best kind of way — determined, dependable, and fiercely loyal to those he loved. A natural jokester with a quick wit, Jr loved to make people laugh. He had a lifelong love for hot rods, race cars, and working on engines. Mowing wasn’t just a job to him; it was something he genuinely enjoyed.
More than anything, Jr cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to honor his memory are his wife, Penny Phillips of Weinert; son, Eric Greenwood and Stacie of Wichita Falls; daughter, Gina Figueroa and Rudy of Wichita Falls; daughter, Kelli Greenwood of Wichita Falls; and his beloved grandchildren: Camryn, Cire, Kiptyn, Maverick, Ezra, Elias, Brileigh, Gracie, and Austin. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanie Stout of Haskell; along with a niece, nephew, extended family members, a host of dear friends, and his dog, Two Sox.
Jr will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
