Sandra Darlene Barnes

Sandra Darlene Barnes, 67, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025, in Haskell, Texas. A funeral service will be held 11:00am, Thursday, May 29, 2025 at God Loves You Ministries with Kristi Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00pm, Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Haskell Funeral Home. Sandra was born December 19, 1957, in Marietta, Georgia, the daughter of the late James Wade Hawkins Jr and Betty Jo Traffanstedt Hawkins. In 1978, she married James Paul Barnes Sr in Benjamin, Texas.

Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to caring for others, working as a caregiver and cooking at various establishments in the area. She loved to gamble and made it to Las Vegas as often as she could. Cooking was one of her favorite things to do, and she always enjoyed trying out new restaurants. She had a big heart for her church family and absolutely loved being a grandma—her grandkids meant the world to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Paul Barnes Sr; and grandson, Eathen Reid.

Sandra is survived by her four children, daughter, Kimberly Reid and Erich of Haskell, sons, James Barnes Jr and Claude Barnes of Haskell, and Jason Barnes and Tarina of Hico; grandson, Nathaniel Reid and Alyssa of Abilene; great-children, Nevaeh, Vincent, and Andrew of Abilene; brother, Jimmy Hawkins of Eugene, Oregon; sister, Debra Reynolds of Atoka, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.
