Ted Jennings

James Travis “Ted” Jennings passed from this world on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm, at the Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Funeral services will be held at the Haskell Church of Christ on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow. Ted was born on June 12, 1937, in Big Lake, Texas, to T.W. and Juanita Jennings. He attended school in Seymour and graduated from Old Glory High School in 1957. After graduation, he joined the Army and served as a helicopter crew chief in Japan, Korea, and Massachusetts. Ted married Mary Ann Tredemeyer on December 24, 1957. Following his military service, he and Mary returned to Seymour, where Ted served as a police officer. He later worked for General Telephone Company (GTE) and retired after 32 years. Ted is an honorably retired member of the Haskell Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; their son, Todd and Melissa Jennings of Fredericksburg and their daughter, Jill and Doug Hall of Dallas; and four grandchildren- Kenzie Jennings of Fort Worth, Jace Jennings of Boerne, Juliann Hall of Dallas, and Jackson Hall of Venice, California. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Donice Jennings of Waco; niece Leslie and Burke Brack of Tyler; nephews Thad and Beth Jennings of Abilene, and Matt and Lorri Jennings of Stanford, Montana; and special friends Jessie and Irene of Haskell.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, T.W. and Juanita Jennings; Mary’s parents, Buster and Norma Tredemeyer; and his brother and best friend, Tim Jennings.

Throughout his life, Ted loved deer hunting at his lease near Doss, dove hunting along the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos River, and catching carp in any body of water he could find. Most of all, however, he loved to camp. In 2002, His biggest camping adventure was pulling his camper over 8000 miles to Canada and Alaska. He and Mary spent countless days in the Rocky Mountains in their trailer, soaking up the cool air.

Ted was a lifelong, faithful member of the Church of Christ.
