Virgil Ray Howell

Virgil Ray Howell, 74, passed away from this life February 9, 2022 in Abilene, Texas. He lived in the Nursing Home. There will be a Visitation on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at the Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D, Haskell, Texas. Burial will follow at 11:00 am at the Rochester Cemetery in Rochester, Texas, with Bro. Carl Amburn officiating.
Ray, as he was known by his friends, was born December 7, 1947 to Otis and Stella Mae Aycock Howell in Haskell County. He graduated from Haskell High School and served in the Army as a Military Policeman in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked for Halliburton and Moore's Bicycle Shop, now known as Smith Outdoors.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Dennis, and sisters Stella Faye Jackson and Janice Smith.
He is survived by his daughters, Paula Halbedel (Mike) of Farmington, AK., Christine Markerney (Scott) of Ft. Towson, OK.; son, Jimmy Ray Howell (Alice) of Grant, OK.; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and other extended family.
