William “Bill” Archey Rich, age 86, of Lampasas, Texas, formerly of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, in Lampasas. A funeral service will be held 1:00pm, Thursday, January 29th, 2026 at the Haskell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Stubbs officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Ave D. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00am-11:30am. Bill was born on March 13, 1939, in Brownfield, Texas, to the late T.J. Rich and Edith Winona (Smith) Rich. He spent his early years working alongside his father in farming operations in Wellman, Texas, and Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
Bill proudly served his country in the National Guard in both New Mexico and Texas from 1957 to 1976, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of First Lieutenant.
Throughout his career, Bill held several respected positions, including Service Manager for RCA; Instructor in Vocational Electronics at South Plains College; Technician/Supervisor for GTE; and Technician Specialist/Field Engineer for MCI. Recently, he relocated from Lubbock to Lampasas, Texas.
On September 21, 1991, Bill married Faye McFadden in Lubbock, Texas, and they shared 34 loving years together.
Bill was a faithful member of LakeRidge Baptist Church in Lubbock, where he especially loved singing in the choir. He also had a passion for music and, along with a dear friend, spent many hours bringing joy to others by playing guitar and singing country and gospel music at oprys and nursing homes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Tommy Rich, Georgia Johnson, and Velma Morris.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Faye Rich; stepchildren, Debbie (Derrick) Dewald of Lampasas, Jami (Lundy) Kinder of Lubbock, and Michael (Christie) Mayfield of Georgetown; nine step-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
