Obituary for Eugenio M. Abila
Eugenio M. Abila, 94, longtime resident of Haskell, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 in Haskell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30am, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Rhineland, TX with Rev. John Perikomalayil Antony, HGN officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery, Haskell, TX. A rosary will be held 7:00pm, Friday, February 16, 2018 at Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D, Haskell, TX. Eugenio was born November 15, 1923 in Kaufman, TX, the son of the late Casildo Abila and Virginia Martinez Abila. In 1982, he married Vita Abila. He worked for RAS Trucking in Rhineland for 46 years. Eugenio was a member of St. George Catholic Church. He enjoyed listening to music and was a people person, he loved to visit.
Eugenio was preceded in death by his first wife, Romona Z. Abila; brother, John Abila; sisters, Lupe Martinez, Dionisia Fuentez; daughter, Carmen Abila and son Mario Abila, Sr.
He is survived by his wife Vita Abila; children, Eva and Nick Jimenez of Haskell; Oscar and Leticia Abila of Abilene; John and Belia Abila of Haskell; Arthur and Elisa Abila of Abilene; Benny Abila of San Antonio; Sylvia and George Brown of Haskell; Guadalupe Abila and Andre Norman of Abilene; daughter-in-law, Stella Abila of Ranger; 25 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Eugenio is also survived by his siblings, Geneva Gonzales of Haskell; Mario Abila of Abilene; Delfina Castor of Wellington, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
