Obituary for Billy Jay Lane
Billy Jay Lane, 70, of Haskell, passed away, Monday, November 15, 2021 in Haskell. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Rochester Cemetery with Pastor Tony Grand officiating. Public viewing will be held Friday, November 19, 2021 at Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.
Bill was born July 7, 1951 in Haskell, TX, the son of the late Mildred Inez Chapman Lane and Billie Joe Lane. He was a 1969 graduate of Haskell High school. On January 25, 1971, he married Regenia Strickland Lane. He was owner and operator of Lane Apparel in Haskell for 17 years; and later worked as a prison guard in Abilene for 7 years. Bill was proud of his two sons; Michael, who owned a computer service company and Brad, who is a retired fire fighter. Bill served on the Haskell Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. He also served on city council (serving two terms), on the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club and the Jaycees. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill is survived by his wife, Regenia Lane of Haskell; sons, Michael Lane and wife Carey of Decatur, TX; Brad Lane and wife Lorrie of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Trenton Lane, Christopher Lane, Kaitlyn Lane, Alyssa Lane; sister, Lynda Pippin and husband Lee of Aledo, TX; nieces, extended family, a host of dear friends, and his 3 faithful companions, Desi, Dusty and Bouncer.
