Obituary for Ronald "Rod" Carroll Jeter
Ronald “Rod” Carroll Jeter, 72, of Haskell, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held 11:00am, Friday, December 14, 2018 at Rule Cemetery with Bro Cody Cochran of Bethel Assembly officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.
Rod was born July 14, 1946 in Haskell, Texas, the son of Edwin Terrell Jeter and Joyce Gene Holt Jeter. On August 30, 1996, he married Doy Whittemore in Albany, TX. He served in the Army and after his discharge went to work at Haskell Memorial Hospital as a lab technician. Rod later managed Strickland Bridge for several years before working for Rural Community Insurance Services as a crop adjuster, where he worked 17 years. His passion was farming and ranching, cattle and horses.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Jeter and grandson, Lakin Rosenquist.
Rod is survived by his wife, Doy Jeter of Haskell, TX; mother Joyce Gene Jeter of Haskell, TX; children, Michelle Rowe of San Antonio, TX; Rod Jeter and spouse Shari of Yoakum, TX; Shana Mckenzie of Abilene, TX; Shayla Floyd and spouse Jason of Corpus Christi, TX; SGT. Shayne McKenzie and spouse Diane of Ft. Jackson, Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Kyle Rowe, Kourtney Jeter, Logan Rosenquist, Kolton Jeter, Payton Rosenquist, Jayden Floyd, Jaxon Floyd; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Judy King of Hearne, TX; extended family and a host of dear friends.
