Obituary for Jerry Wayne Campbell
Jerry Wayne Campbell, 69, of Haskell, passed away, Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in Abilene. A memorial service will be 2 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Weinert with Pastor Dan Bullock officiating. Interment will take place 1 pm, Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. Arrangements are under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Jerry was born July 21, 1947 in Haskell, Texas, the son of the late Charles Campbell and Reda DeHart Campbell. He served in the Army during Vietnam. After 25 years as installation technician, he retired from Dover Elevator. He later farmed and worked for TDCJ for 15 years, where he retired again. On May 31, 2013, he married Myra Rainey in Abilene. In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed playing horse polo. He also enjoyed, fishing, hunting and camping. Another favorite past time was breaking horses. Jerry was a member of First Baptist Church of Weinert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda Spencer Campbell on April 4, 2010 and brother, Duward Campbell.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Myra Rainey Campbell of Haskell; children, Stephen Campbell of Haskell, Karen Coe and husband Jon of El Paso; Bill Coe and wife Elizabeth Esquivel of Georgetown; Donna Rainey Sanders and husband Frank of Abilene; David Rainey of Watauga; grandchildren, Avery Campbell of Glen Rose; Brent Birchum and wife Joy of Camp Lejeune, NC; Bryan Birchum of Camp Lejeune, NC; Mackensie Rainey of Watauga and Landon Rainey of Watauga. He is also survived by his siblings, Janis Klose and husband Loyd of Abilene; Larry Campbell of Abilene; Brenda Sanders and husband Kenneth of Weinert; Debby Engle and husband Dave of Stillwater, OK; Reda Thomas and husband Gary of Haskell, dear friends Sheila Mata, Dorthea Rueffer Monroe, Sonny Rueffer, Dennis Rueffer and numerous nieces and nephews.
