Obituary for Lee Roy Schaake
Lee Roy Schaake, 91, passed away, Sunday, December 19, 2021, in Haskell, Texas. A graveside service will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. A visitation will be held 6-7 pm on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Haskell Funeral Home. Condolences may be made at www.haskellfuneralhometx.com.
Lee Roy was born July 25, 1930, in Stamford, Texas to Ervin Schaake and Elsie Thane Schaake. He graduated from Paint Creek High School. Lee Roy was an Army Veteran serving in Korea and Japan for four years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved farming and took pride in working the land. He first drove a tractor at 7 years old and farmed for more than 60 years. On November 3, 1967, Lee Roy married the love of his life, Jimmie Dell Clay Stubblefield in Haskell, Texas. He and Jimmie worked side by side many years farming and raising their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Blake Bedell.
Lee Roy is survived by his wife, Jimmie Schaake of Haskell; son, Scott Schaake and wife Sunne; daughters, Debbie Bedell and Becky Seaman and husband Terry of Lubbock; grandchildren, Chase Bedell and wife Leesy of Abilene, Kenzie Haley and husband Ryan of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Brittane Guerrero and husband Chris of Winters, and Bri Franques and husband Josh of Jonestown; 3 great-grandchildren, Kaeson Bedell, Thatcher Haley and Hocklynn Haley; sister, Glenna Kinnibrugh of Vera; nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.
