Obituary for Ollie D. Johnson
Pastor Ollie D. “O.D.” Johnson, 62, of Haskell, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, August 2, 2019. A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Greater Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Mel Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. A visitation will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 at Haskell Funeral Home. O.D. was born November 14, 1956 in Haskell, TX, the son of the late L.C. Johnson, Sr. and Alice Lewis Johnson. He served in the Air Force for 18 years. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend. O.D. coached little league. O.D. has been serving as Pastor of Greater Independent Baptist Church for the past 3 years. Above all, he loved the Lord, encouraging other to be the hands and feet of Jesus, by teaching, sharing and the way he lived. Pastor Ollie was an instrumental part in the ministerial alliance and helping bring the community churches together in fellowship and ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Johnny Johnson.
Ollie is survived by his son, Andre Johnson and wife Nicole of Arlington; daughter, Jacqueline Moore and husband Herman of Arlington; grandchildren, Andre, Jr., Keshaun, and Janae Johnson; Aaliyah and Amari Moore; brothers, Otis Johnson and wife Rosie of Arlington; Robert Johnson, Sr., and wife Mitzi of Haskell; L.C. Johnson, Jr., and wife Karen of Haskell; sister-in-law, Ellen Johnson; aunt, Mae Lou Yeldell, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of church family and friends.
