Obituary for J.E. (Bud) Massingill
J.E. (Bud) Massingill, 90, of Haskell passed away on April 27, 2018 in Abilene, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Truscott Cemetery in Truscott, Texas under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home, 2 Avenue D. Bud was born August 4, 1927 in Gilliland, Texas, the son of the late Burr Massingill and Exsa Groves Massingill. On December 23, 1944, Bud married Ora Mae Eubank in Seymour, TX. He and Ora Mae were married for 66 years before her death on August 6, 2010. Bud farmed in Knox County for many years. He and his family moved from Munday, TX to Morenci, AZ in 1968. He worked as a Power Plant Foreman for Phelps Dodge Corporation in Morenci and Playas, NM. Upon retiring in 1994, he moved back to Texas and began farming again. Bud was a Master Mason for the Grand Lodge of Texas, Knox-Corinthian No. 851. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and working crosswords. Bud liked watching sports, and was an avid Longhorn fan. Bud enjoyed his family especially visiting with kids and grandkids. He will be remembered for his laughter and happy personality.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, Andra Massingill; and 3 brothers, Milton (Shorty) Massingill, Beryl (Toad) Massingill, and Billy Charles (Pete) Massingill.

Bud is survived by daughters, Sandra Bateman of Abilene, TX; Rita Heuse and husband Bob of Midland, TX; Rhonda Massingill of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Burt Heuse and wife Megan of Simpsonville, SC; Jesse Smith, Jr. of Fort Worth, TX; Exsa Smith of Pima, AZ; Tyrell Smith of Fort Irwin, CA; Miranda Eastwood and husband David of Vail, AZ; Malia Espinoza and husband Michael of Pima, AZ; Michelle Bateman of Benbrook, TX; Kimberly Brock and husband Lane of Plano, TX; Angela Walling and husband David of Bridgeport, TX; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-granddaughter. He is also survived by sister, Lavita Burgess of Weinert, TX, nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.
